Alexander Pope quotes

How happy he, who free from care

The rage of courts, and noise of towns;
Contented breathes his native air,
In his own grounds.

Whose herds with milk, whose fields with bread,
Whose flocks supply him with attire,
Whose trees in summer yield him shade,
In winter fire.

Blest! who can unconcern'dly find
Hours, days, and years slide swift away,
In health of body, peace of mind,
Quiet by day,

Sound sleep by night; study and ease
Together mix'd; sweet recreation,
And innocence, which most does please,
With meditation.

Thus let me live, unheard, unknown;
Thus unlamented let me die;
Steal from the world, and not a stone
Tell where I lie.

5th Inter Inti Campus Debate - something to chew

Contrary to the previous competitions, this year I was not stressed neither about the competition nor about its results, though I wanted the best. I don't know why. No, I think I know- two reasons: 1) two brand new members in the club, 2) less than two weeks of full swing practice due to my trips to India.

Pius and I thought that the motions were very easy, mind you, easy motions are not easy to debate at times. I adjudicated first two rounds, and nothing much to write here about them.
The motion for the third round was exactly what we practiced during one of our session. THW allow only Aftrican Nations to involve in African Conflicts. I wonder how our team couldn't make it! It is a cake for Zay and Mo, even for Pius. *sigh*

The cheif adjudicator was new this year. Out of my four years this is the 3rd Chief. He is quite interactive, a bit over, sometimes. I found the 'I' too much in him, well people are differnt. I really miss Dr Omar. So sad.

The adjudicators need to know more. I came into debate almost the same time with some of them. But the way I see them is, sad. Please take some interest in knowing things, learning about debate...study..study...i think i can write a booklet with my experience. And What saddens me is the missing professionalism in judging. I really wish things will change for good in future.

We were allocated Aristotle, which is closer comparing the previous years, but still I preferred the last block simply becuase of its stillness. I missed my walking.

My debaters, it is not easy to satisfy the adjudicaters, any adjudicater for that matter. They all have different perception. Don't let this adjudicaters syndrom let you influence you. Just do your part well beyond question. You will have a place.

I feel a positive aura in our club, keep few things in mind - bond, understanding, committment, dedication, and most importantly passion. I want you to be the Champions in Yayasan.. Four long years of waiting...two times we were alsmost there....please don't disappoint me...

Hope you won't. Amen.

The world doesn't stop for anyone...

Yes. I echo Mitch verbattim.

I am not going to call everyone for practise, this and that. Bear in mind. I AM NOT GOING TO DEBATE AND WIN ANYTHING (IF AT ALL YOU WIN???). and I CAN'T CARE ANYMORE.

Sorry guys. I think I too have stuff too...not always chasing you all for practice all the time.

Mitch, since everyone is SO BUSY in their own way, we will go out together.its ok..

THE WORLD DOESN'T STOP FOR ANYONE.

ATTENTION TO ALL IGNORANT DEHOUSE MEMBER

Yes, I am annoyed. So instead of me chasing you from the back, I'm just going to ask everyone -Miss Sentha excluded- when can you make time for a proper debaters outing. N yes, I'm posting this on the blog.

We are suppose to go to the movies today but since NO ONE could make time, Miss Sentha decided not to go because SHE WANTS A PROPER DEBATERS OUTING TOGETHER. So listen here. Tell me when you can make time this following week, or weekend. N THAT INCLUDES YOU DATO' PIUS, your not the only one with set priorities.

Inform me of the possible days and time so I can ARRANGE (since I was asked too) the day to go out. And if you are not interested, tell Miss Sentha that you are not, rather then some lame excuse. Now i understand why she is always stress with it comes to the club.

Expecting Jun or George for transport, so sorry to say that. And Jun, if you're going to MODIFY the car, say so. SO WE CAN JUST RESCHEDULE everything rather than wait hopelessly for the car to turn up late Saturday evening. (as you have point out on when it will get done).
And Pius what day do you not go to church?

Seems like we have to suit our schedules to all of yours. We are suppose to go out TOGETHER and not just me and Sentha again. I assure you if that happens again, count me out from further 'quality debaters time together'.

Calling all De House Members.....

WE SHOULD HAVE A PRE-OPENING for semester Makan lah...
George brought me to some not-bad restaurant...what was the name again...Sharing Planet...somewhere near Stapok der...We should go. IN the first week, before we ALL (I suspect Pan edi) get busy with work -INTI Open or classes- or Miss Sentha with her piles and piles of paper work which always takes ages to get done (so sorry to hear that Ms.)
SO SO SO SO SO My proposal is : (aka my mechanism)
What : De HOuse Members grouping/nite out (visitors allowed at own risk)
When : First Week of May - date would be finalized when I meet Ms.Sentha in IPOH (God knows when)
WHy : FOR FUN, duh!! Pre opening for semester (and some fun for Pan) and for me to eat of course
Where : Sharing Planet - or other relevant places in case Ms. cant eat
Who : as in driving?? (I'm sure) Jun and Gigi wont mind...LOL...HOWEVER please don't expect Miss Sentha to pay for us again. Everyone atleast be sensible and pay for her for ONCE!!! (we shall all chip in for Sentha's..)
The problem and why we have to implement this plan : BECAUSE WE NEVER HAVE FUN -not together at least.
Food :: Reasonable. 50 bucks should be more than enough. Dishes are around 20 and below..Salmon is 20++. Drinks are standard cafe/restaurant prices. (Not kopitiam prices)
Any opposition??
BDW, maybe we can get the Chung Hua students to come. If they are allowed...they might have curfews or something...and if they are interested of course...
CONGRATULATIONS TO TEAM B FOR MAKING IT TO SEMIs! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!

Congress, agencies move as stem cell limits lifted

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama signed an order lifting eight years of restrictions on federal funding of human embryonic stem cell research on Monday as scientists gushed, activists cheered and shares in stem cell companies rose.

Members of the U.S. Congress and executives at the National Institutes of Health said they would act swiftly to turn the new policy into law and into cash for laboratories.

Obama's executive order reversed and repudiated restrictions placed on the research by his predecessor, George W. Bush, freeing labs across the country to start working with the valued cells, which give birth to all cells and tissues in the body. [ID:nN08329064]

The move made it possible for federally funded researchers to work with human embryonic stem cells from a variety of sources, not just the few batches Bush had approved.
