Kuching Debate League

Can I cut my formal self and blog casually??

ALRIGHT!!
De House organized a Debate League for the whole of Kuching on the 11 of October 2008. colleges and universities participated, IPTAR, IPBL, Swinburne, INTI, UNIMAS, UiTM and...did I forget anyone??

The event lasted the whole morning, when it was suppose to finish at 5. You know lah...Malaysian Time...SOME PPL just HAVE to come late, GET LOST of GET SICK and even LEAVE EARLY for some particular reasons that can be excused for just one day!!

It is actually the first league ever organized, Asian style, our beloved Pius came up with the brilliant idea which got Miss Sentha, our President Pan and myself half dead from everything. First of all we were all put on a study week break for a week because it was Raya. And I was on Holidays in West Malaysia when I came back to find out nothing much was done!! ANd out lovely members just love to escape the help with reasons like assignments, class and whatever crap that I WILL NEVER FORGIVE YOU FOR!!

Well, it was very last minute, but we thank the colleges and universities that came forward with the full support for the league. Thanks, man.

We started of with two preliminary rounds and the top four teams will go to the Semi Finals. Inti sent two teams, INTI 1- Tochi, myself and AQ and INTI 2 - Michael King, Pan Wei Ping and Junaidu. After some efforts, INTI 1 made it to the top four. The other three teams that made it to the semi finals was two representative teams from IPBL (Our reigning Yayasan Sarawak Winner) and IPTAR. Congratulations!! ANd guess who made it to the finals....US!!!!!!

Yeah, we did. INTI 1 and the team from IPBL. I actually forgot which one because IPBL sent 8 teams...and you have IPBL 1, IPBL 2, IPBL 3.....la di da di da....

AT the finals, This house believes in permanent ownerships for land. I swear I had no idea about lands ownership and the other two had to brainwash me for a moment because I was close to tears about not knowing the topic. Yet, they babble babble babble and I babbled babbbled babbled and yeah....we made it. We won the finals. FINALLY!!!!

IPBL has volunteered to organize the next league British Parliamentary style..however there is a little news that they won't be able to make it. Right...Hope someone wants to do it. Congratulations to the INTI 1, Tochuwu...I dunno his name lets just call him Tochi-wado, Jernej Cesar who we call AQ and well, MYSELF.
And a million thanks to out helpers, Ushers and students that restlessly help out the entire day. Thanks to Angel, Michelle and Grace (A-Levels) and Calvin (Computer Science) We could not have done it without you. Apreciate your help very much.
Here are some pictures, VERY BADLY TAKEN IT SPOLIED MY MOOD THE MOMENT I SAW IT.

The Gift of saying much with so few words

This was written by Andy Rooney, a man who has the gift of saying much with so few words

1. I've learned...that the best classroom in the world is at the feet of an elderly person.

2. I've learned...that when you are in love, it shows.

3. I've learned...that one person saying to me "you've made my day" made my day.

4. I've learned...that having a child fall acleep in you arms is one of the most peaceful feelings in the world.

5.I've learned...that being kind is more important being right.

6. I've learned...that you should never say NO to a gift from a child.

7. I've learned...that I can always pray for someone when I don't have strength to help him in some other way.

8. I've learned...that no matter how serious your life requires you to be, everyone needs a friend to act goofy with.

9. I've learned...that sometimes all a person need is a hand to hold and a heart to understand.

10. I've learned...that simple walks with my father around the block on summer nights when I was a child did wonders for me as an adult.

11. I've learned...that life is like a roll of toilet paper. The closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes.

12. I've learned...that we should be glad God doesn't give is everything we ask for.
13. I've learned...that money doesn't buy class.

14. I've learned...that it's those small daily happenings that make life so spcetacular.

15. I've learned...that under everyone's hard shell is someone who wants to be appreciated.

16. I've learned...that to ignore the facts doesn not change the facts.

17. I've learned...that when you plan to get even with someone, you are only letting that person continue to hurt you.

18. I've learned...that love, not time, heals all wounds.

19. I've learned...that the easiest way for me to grow as a person is to surround myself with people smarter than I am.

20. I've learned...that everyone you meet deserves to be greeted with a smile.

21. I've learned...that no one is perfect until you fall in love with them.

22. I've learned...that life is tough, but I am tougher.

23. I've learned...that opportunities are never lost, someone will take the one you misses.

24. I've learned...that when you harbour bitterness, happiness will dock elsewhere.

25. I've learned...that I wish I could have told my Mum that I love Her one more time before she passed away.

26. I've learned...that one should keep his words both soft and tender, because tomorrow he may have to eat them.

27. I've learned...that a smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks.

28. I've learned...that when your newly born granchild holds your little finger in his little fist, that you're hooked for life.

29. I've learned...that everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you're climbing it.

30. I've learned...that the less time I have to work with, the more things I get done.
